Flaherty & Bruce Meltzer |
In
1970, Abe Meltzer's Triangle Pacific Corporation bought
Island Coal and Lumber, a lumberyard which had operated
on Long Island in Medford since 1936. Triangle Pacific
was instrumental in developing the growth of Medford
and the surrounding areas through the '70's and prospered
as a lumber supplier. In the late 70's, the lumberyard
was purchased by Abe Meltzer's son, Bruce, who then
operated it independently.
The new company became a major supplier of lumber and
building products to the housing trade. As the company
grew, a new division was added which introduced pre-fabricated
housing components to Long Island. In the years that
followed, the company grew into 10 locations throughout
New York and New Jersey until 1992. With the dynamics
of the industry changing and Home Depot's arrival, the
retail trade became much more competitive.
In 1993, Triangle Building Products Corp. was formed
in response to the changes in the industry. This company
was designed specifically to serve the needs of the
modern day builder on Long Island. Manufactured trusses
and wall panels, along with lumber, millwork and cabinetry
are among the items offered to Long Island's professional
builders.
Today, Triangle Building Products has become the leading
manufacturer of housing components in the metropolitan
area. Triangle's Total Package Concept saves builders
time on money on their job sites.
